Thanks you for your interest in membership at Cedar Grove. Believe me, we get excited when people are serious about committing to serve the Lord in the Body of Christ. Truly membership in the local church should be synonymous with commitment. If you are just interested in having your name on the role or just a weekly spectator, membership is really not for you. Membership at Cedar Grove Baptist church is a wonderful opportunity to grow, give, serve, love, and be loved to the glory of God. Below are a few questions concerning membership that you should consider if you are really serious about uniting with this local body of believers. We look forward to serving with you.
Why is membership so important?
-
Membership helps our staff identify those who are potentially able to be trusted in the leading and caring of others.
-
Membership also identifies those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and are willing to go public with that commitment (if they have not already) through baptism.
-
Membership identifies a person who is willing to support this church with their time, talents, and treasures and be accountable to the local body through connection with a life group and a strategic area of servant ministry.
Why is it important to be a member in order to be a leader in this church?
-
Simply put, there are many servant opportunities at Cedar Grove that do not necessarily require membership. However, it is our belief that a person needs to be committed to the mission and core values of this church before they can effectively lead others.
-
If an individual is not willing to identify with the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism and commit their time and resources to the glory of God through membership, it may be an indication that they are not yet ready for the heavy responsibility of helping others to grow spiritually within the church environment.
What does membership indicate?
Membership indicates to the pastoral staff of this church that an individual is ready to surrender to the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, it indicates that a person is moving past the mentality of "what do I get" to the mentality of "what can I give"?
